Everything you need to know about playing CryptoSnake, climbing the leaderboard, and earning on-chain rewards.

Getting Started

CryptoSnake is a browser-based snake game with Web3 rewards. No downloads, no installs — just connect your wallet and play.

  1. Click Connect Wallet in the top navigation bar.
  2. Choose your wallet provider (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect, etc.).
  3. Navigate to Play — the game will unlock.
  4. Click ▶ Play Game on the canvas to start immediately.

Controls

Keyboard

  • ↑ ↓ ← → — Move
  • W A S D — Move (WASD)
  • P or Esc — Pause / Resume

Mobile

  • On-screen D-pad appears automatically on touch devices.
  • Tap the canvas buttons (Play, Resume, Restart) to interact.
  • Use the Fullscreen button for the best mobile experience.

Scoring System

Points are earned every time your snake eats food. The scoring formula rewards playing at higher in-game levels:

Points per food = 100 × Current Level × Food Multiplier × Combo

  • Your snake levels up every 3 foods eaten.
  • At level 1, each food is worth 100 pts. At level 10 it's 1,000 pts.
  • Obstacles (red blocks) appear from level 10 onward, increasing in number each level.
  • The snake's movement speed increases with level, capping at maximum speed around level 8.

Power-ups

Special food items spawn periodically during gameplay. Each has a unique appearance and effect.

Mega FoodEvery 7th food

A golden star worth 5× the normal point value for that level. Always eat these — they can dramatically boost your score and combo.

Slow Mo CrystalEvery 13th food

A cyan diamond that slows your snake's movement by ~55% for 4 seconds. The game border turns blue during Slow Mo. Use this window to eat multiple foods quickly and build up your combo.

Combo MultiplierOngoing — skill-based

Not a food item — your combo builds automatically. Eat consecutive foods within 2.5 seconds to stack up to a 3× combo multiplier. Your combo multiplies all point earnings and resets if you take too long.

Realistic ceiling for most players: Viper (35k–65k). Serpent Lord and above requires mastering combos, power-ups, and obstacle navigation.

Token Rewards

100,000 points = 100 $SNAKE tokens

Points accumulate across all games. Your all-time total is tracked against the 100k threshold.

Token Holder Bonus: Players who hold at least $100 USD of $SNAKE tokens at the time of the Token Generation Event (TGE) receive a permanent 2× multiplier on all $SNAKE earnings going forward.

$SNAKE TGE: The token is not yet live. All accrued rewards are tracked in our database and will be claimable once the smart contract is deployed. No action is required from players until TGE is announced.

FAQ

Do I need a wallet to play?
Yes. CryptoSnake requires a connected EVM wallet to play. Your wallet address is your identity — it's how we save your scores, track your rank, and calculate your $SNAKE token rewards. No private key or seed phrase is ever requested.
Which wallets are supported?
CryptoSnake supports MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect-compatible wallets, and any injected EVM browser extension. Mobile users can connect via WalletConnect or MetaMask Mobile.
Which blockchains does CryptoSnake support?
Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum One, and BNB Smart Chain. Switch networks within your wallet at any time — your score history is tied to your wallet address across all chains.
Are my high scores saved?
Yes. Every game you play is saved to our global database under your wallet address. Your best score determines your rank on the leaderboard. Disconnecting your wallet does not delete your data.
What are $SNAKE tokens?
$SNAKE is the native utility token of CryptoSnake. You earn $SNAKE by accumulating in-game points: 100,000 points = 100 $SNAKE. Token holders who hold at least $100 of $SNAKE receive a permanent 2× reward multiplier on all future earnings.
When can I claim my $SNAKE tokens?
$SNAKE token generation event (TGE) is coming soon. All earned tokens are tracked in our system and will be claimable once the smart contract is deployed. No action is needed from you in the meantime.
Is my private key or seed phrase ever collected?
Never. CryptoSnake only reads your public wallet address via standard wallet APIs. Your private keys remain exclusively with your wallet software and never leave your device.
